Also noted is "attacked [by] fighter (rear gunner P/O Mitchell killed). Flew home in rear turret. Three guns and sight US [unservicable] (58 lost)". the book 'Bomber Command Losses 1943' by WR Chorley records 63 aircraft lost on this operation, including 3 No. 75 Squadron aircraft. NB. William Ernest Mitchell, RCAF.
