Handwritten on the original album page "Taken with a K20 aerial camera at 1155 hours on August 12th, 1945, after No. 2 Squadron's last attack on Rabaul. Thirteen aircraft of the Squadron participated in the raid, which was possibly one of the last air-strikes of World War Two. Each aircraft dropped eight 500 pound general purpose bombs. Just as we left the aircraft the squadron Intelligence Officer skidded to a halt in his Jeep, grabbed the camera and said "Hold it you guys - the Japs are talking surrender!" Hostilities ceased for us that day."
