Ground to air view of a formation of Kittyhawks and a Hudson over Norfolk Island.
Associated document describes: "P40s with their Hudson escort arriving over Norfolk after their flight from NZ. It was a case of the single engined aircraft with very limited navigational facilities maintaining close contact with the escort which did the navigation for the whole flight of aircraft. Norfolk provided an important stopping off point for fighter aircraft being ferried from NZ to forward battle areas in the Solomons. Each fighter was fitted with an auxiliary "belly" tank of fuel."
